ST JOHN UPPER NORWOOD

Bringing back life to this community space.

Our latest project at St John Upper Norwood encompasses a wide range of developments, including re-ordering, the addition of a new link-café, and the establishment of a performing arts centre. Additionally, the project will work collaboratively to address the ongoing critical repair works necessary to preserve this Grade 2* listed church, which currently resides on the heritage at risk register. St John the Evangelist Upper Norwood has a rich history and holds great cultural significance to the community. Our vision is to breathe new life into this cherished space, honouring its heritage while equipping it to meet the needs and aspirations of the modern era.

Through thoughtful and considered re-ordering, we will enhance the functionality and flexibility of the interior, creating spaces that can adapt to various community activities, events, and worship services.

The addition of a new link-café will serve as a welcoming gathering place for the community and provide a hub for social interaction. This vibrant space will not only provide refreshments but also offer a warm and inviting atmosphere for people to connect, engage in meaningful conversations, and build relationships.

There are also plans for a performing arts centre within the grounds that will unlock the potential for artistic expression and cultural experiences. This state-of-the-art facility will provide a stage for local talent, hosting performances, concerts, and other artistic events that enrich the cultural fabric of the community.
While embarking on these exciting developments, we recognise the critical repair works that are essential for the long-term preservation of this church. Our commitment to heritage conservation drives us to address the existing issues that have placed St John the Evangelist Upper Norwood on the heritage at risk register. By undertaking meticulous restoration and repair efforts, we have previously worked towards ensuring the building’s structural integrity, safeguarding its historical significance for future generations to cherish.
