Situated in industrial Bermondsey, this Victorian terrace provided a unique opportunity for a deep retrofit to breathe new life into the property while preserving its exterior historical character. The project began with a meticulous renovation process that addressed every aspect of the building. From structural improvements to plumbing and electrical updates, ensuring that the property exceeded modern standards and regulations.

The project included the construction of a two-storey extension with an architecturally glazed sun room, complete refurbishment to all four storeys, loft space transformation, bespoke joinery throughout, and an external works package. Our client spent a lot of time in hotels and wanted to bring some contemporary design and functionality, to their London home while creating a stunning and practical living space.

The highlight of the project is the two-storey extension, which expands the living space and enhances the overall functionality of the property. Careful consideration is given to the architectural aesthetics, ensuring that the extension seamlessly integrates with the existing structure. The design maximises the use of available space, creating additional spaces tailored to the homeowners’ needs.

As part of the retrofit, the loft space is transformed into a functional and inviting area. This included insulation upgrades, installation of skylights for natural light, and the creation of versatile living spaces that can be utilised as an extra bedroom, a studio, or a cosy retreat.

Bespoke joinery is integrated throughout the property, adding a touch of craftsmanship and elegance. Custom-designed cabinetry, built-in shelving units, and unique features create a cohesive and personalised interior, optimising storage and maximising the use of space.

The external works package encompasses the enhancement of the property’s exterior aesthetics and functionality. This may involve landscaping, patio or garden area creation, and the addition of exterior features that complement the overall design.
